Trivandrum also known as Thiruvananthapuram is the capital of Kerala. I chose to write about this city since it is my hometown and I spent most of my holidays there. Both my parents are also from this city and most of my family stays there. The city takes the name from the Malayalam word Thiruvananthapuram which means ‘The city of Lord Ananta’ the deity of the famous Padmanabhaswamy Templ e and the cosmic serpent on who Lord Vishnu reclines on. In literature city is also popularly denoted as Ananthapuri. The city was officially referred as Trivandrum until 1991. The city was a trading post for spices sandalwood and ivory. It started to flourish under the rule of Marthanda Varma the ruler of Travancore. The city had developed into a significant intellectual and artistic center during this period. Weekend trip to sakleshpur

Image
Last week end my family went to a coffee plantation cottage near Sakleshpur in Karnataka. We went in our new car.  I mostly slept  in the car. We reached there by noon. When I reached , I had to climb around 50 steps to reach my cottage.  My expectation was big.  So I peaked into my cottage and was surprised,  except a bed there was nothing else☹️.  I was expecting a luxurious cottage with many amenities.  But it was an Eco friendly wooden cottage with no amenities.  My parents gave me a hard time.  There were 10 wooden cabins scattered here and there in a coffee plantation. Out of 10 wooden cottage our's was the worst one. We got really disappointed.  But the view from cottage was amazing. Our cottage had two wooden chairs in a small sit out, two wooden beds and one wooden bathroom full of snails 😉.  After we settled down, we went for lunch.  Lunch was not so good. I ate puri and rice with chicken c...
